VLC Integrated Video Bug, and temporary remedy here :- https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/+bug/314038 Forgot that with a fresh install I had to do so many other steps, remove stuff like Evolution etc, add stuff like VLC, Thunderbird, Geany, RapidSVN. It depends on your system, try out various audio settings in your skype settings and use the test call/test sound feature to confirm your sound works.
