{"id":45,"date":"2008-11-25T00:21:28","date_gmt":"2008-11-24T13:21:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.madox.net\/blog\/?p=45"},"modified":"2008-12-07T23:18:00","modified_gmt":"2008-12-07T12:18:00","slug":"how-to-open-canon-cr2-raws-in-ubuntu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.madox.net\/blog\/2008\/11\/25\/how-to-open-canon-cr2-raws-in-ubuntu\/","title":{"rendered":"How to open Canon CR2 Raws in Ubuntu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Or more correctly, how to open Canon CR2 Raw Files for editing in Ubuntu using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gimp.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">GIMP<\/a>.\u00a0 F-Spot the default image viewer in Ubuntu already allows you to open Canon CR2 Raw images for viewing.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Gimp should come pre-installed with Ubuntu.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t have it installed for any reason (uninstalled?), install it using the command :<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>sudo apt-get install gimp<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Next you need <a href=\"http:\/\/ufraw.sourceforge.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">UFRaw<\/a> which is a utility to read and manipulate raw images from digital cameras.\u00a0 Or in our case, it is better to use the GIMP UFRaw plugin.\u00a0 Get it by using the command :<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>sudo apt-get install gimp-ufraw<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now wasn&#8217;t that easy?\u00a0 Now all you need to do is simply right click on any .CR2 file, Select Open With &gt;
