I was really intrigued and impressed by your iris design. My company is an integrated metal fabricator and we have product line aircraft ground support equipment, heat exchangers/combustion. (My web site is 10+ yrs out of date). I would be interested to make a metal prototype of the iris. It might even help me with testing part of the system on my heat exchanger. It would be a neat project. Would you be willing to share the design with me and collaborate on making a working unit? Thank you.
Hi,
I am Italian and I have a Mazda 3 with a 1.6 liter gasoline engine. The car is OK but burns a lot of fuel in my opinion.
Just 11 Km per liter of fuel !!! . I did read your article on the possibility to pick_uk and decode some data from the car CAN Bus.
I am very interesed about that and I would like to do it by myself as a homebrew work.
Could you please anticipate the interface schematics, the program used to show the data …etc , etc… ?
Thanks for having read this message !

I have been looking for someone with the skill and expertise to create a working Iris Diaphragm with Stargate in mind. I have bought Iris’s in the past and none come close to your work. Have you managed to produce your latest design? And how much does it cost to produce?
hello john,
would you like to partner with me to take over the entire world and enslave the legions of zion with our army of mechanical androids, ready at your every bec and call!!!! arrrggghhhhhhhhh haahhahahaha
Hi
Can the Iris be made in 1/8″ +\- steel, aprox. 12″-16″ dia. ?
I’m building a propane forge and this would be an elegant solution to the
need for access and heat control.
Thanks,
Michael
I wonder if you would be interested in showing off some of your work at the National Manufacturing Week in Melbourne in May. We are attending the show with pp3dp showing off the UP printer there and it would be great if you could be there to.
Any chance that you could build me one of your “TI eZ430 Chronos Watch + Python Library + Remote Control” setup, or better using an Android phone as the gyro. Willing to pay.
Any chance I could get something before end of Jan as I have a couple of shows in Feb. I saw the android vids, they are awesome, would be great to use androids built in gyro.
Email me your phone number and I’ll give you a call.
Hey man, not sure if you still monitor this site but I had a question for you. I am currently looking to monitor data from my RX8. I have successfully found the HS-CAN (PCM) pins on my OBD2 and found the MS-CAN(information display) pins as well. Not sure if you have any experience, but is there a way that I can read from HS and display on MS? I am looking to use the arduino with a canbus shield but it looks like the shield is only wired for the HS-CAN
I writing from Europe. I have a 2008 Mazda 5 1.8 gasoline (European) car. I decided to buy a OBD diagnostic cable, what I like to use on that car. I don’t know that this: OBDLink SX Scan Tool cable compatible or not?
Am I need a expensive softwate ScanTool and a Mazda Add-on?
Or can I read and del the fault codes with the free OBDWiz software?
What that protocol what this car use?
Used dd from Ubuntu notebook to write it onto a 2gb microsd card and inserted it back into my Chumby One.
Starts to boot then it halts on the 2nd Madox screen showing the progress bar at about 2/3 of the way through.
Back in Ubuntu (card mounted) I’ve started making changes to the interfaces file (to no avail) and I notice that it appears to be a different distro with package mgmt tools. I also see ethernet devices labeled for Zaurus and HP pda (I own both). Is this distro more similar to openzaurus? I’m trying to use python/pygame (with screen input) and hope to attach a USB midi device to the Chumby.
That’s fully booted. Unless you put code to change the screen, the boot progress splash doesn’t go away.
Do you have a serial cable to connect to the Chumby mainboard? I’ve got another image that starts up a WiFi hotspot but I may have broken the graphics drivers in that one…
I’ve tried a dhcp and static IP one at a time for (wlan0, eth0, eth1) by editing the interfaces file while mounting the sdram from my linux box but I can’t ping the chumby when I re-insert the ram card and try to boot.
I’d have to order and modify a serial cable to go the other route but I’d rather just use a shell on the tiny LCD long enough to get networking and dropbear going then ssh in.
I assume that the login is root with no pw? I realize now that this is open embedded based..
Have you had any luck with pygame and the touch screen within your oe build? I’ve been playing around with ts_calibrate and updating /etc/pointercal with the output, but the screen seems reversed. My pygame app runs great on the chumby otherwise.
Hello Madox,
I’m an alibre user and waht to build aero foils but can’t seem to get how to control the splines. If I set up a group of points then spline them the spline disassociates from the points. Any clues ojn building accurate splines for foils would be appreciated. By the way I’m an engineer and have a look at my site. I may be of use sometime. Currently I’m building in Rhino3d then importing into Alibre but want to do it all in the one environment. Cheers Peter S http://www.carbon-works.com.au
Hi there,
I would like to promote your work/blog on the ponoko site.
Please send me an email if you are interested with bio pics etc..
(unless of course they are porn pics, hang on, even if they are your pornfolio, is that what you call your showreel?)
cheers

Nice design! Submit your design as an entry to the Alibre Design Contest by Feb 1 for a chance at $1000 !
Just email contest@alibre.com with some screen caps in an Alibre product and a brief description of the item.

Hope to meet up!
I was actually thinking how cute it would be as a demonstration for a stand
I’ll drop you an E-mail later…
Did you not see the Android touch versions already?
